Charlaine Robinson, MA, RCC, CCC,
Certified EMDRIA Therapist, and Consultant
For over 30 years, I have worked with diverse populations in the human services field. I am passionate about providing effective therapy so clients may heal from disturbing events. Experiencing traumatic events may cause you to experience symptoms that you do not understand. My goal is to help you to understand your symptoms and reduce the distress you experience. The counselling process can be challenging. My priority is to provide you with a non-judgmental and compassionate environment, so you feel safe as you move through the healing process. As you gain insight about yourself and develop coping skills, you will feel confident managing life's challenges. I aim to help you to realize your true potential and to feel empowered to embrace your resilient qualities.
My travels across Canada and exposure to diverse populations inform my ability to understand clients’ unique needs. I offer online EMDR therapy to people across B.C. My highly experienced associates offer in-person trauma counselling from our Abbotsford office. We help those with depressed mood and high anxiety, childhood trauma, specific trauma, grief and loss, and more. We use evidence-based treatment with EMDR as our primary counselling modality. EMDR is one of the most researched psychotherapies. We are also trained in CBT, DBT, and mindfulness practice. Our focus is to develop a treatment plan that meets clients’ unique needs. It is an honour and a privilege to help individuals heal. Since moving to Victoria, B.C., I offer EMDR trauma counselling in person and online from my Victoria office.
As the wife of a retired RCMP member and having raised our family in different provinces across Canada, I understand how policing impacts members, spouses, and families. My training and professional experience inform my ability to guide police and families through their healing journey. My experience as a Naval Reserve Officer informs my ability to support military members, Coast Guard, and First Responders. I also work with healthcare professionals.
Indigenous, First Nations, Metis: Since 1995, I have been fortunate to receive teachings from elders and community members from Cree, Sto:lo and Metis communities. Our associates have experience in helping Indigenous populations. Our teachings and experience guide our practice in serving those who experience the effects of complex and intergenerational trauma.
As an Approved EMDRIA Consultant, I enjoy providing consultation to EMDR counsellors interested in developing their EMDR skills. You may use your consultation hours to complete certification.
A respectful therapeutic relationship is essential. We feel humbled and privileged to witness individuals move through their healing process. We aim to honour your privacy and integrity. You may contact our office to book an appointment with me or an associate. We look forward to hearing from you.

“When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge” – Tuli Kupferberg
There are many ways to approach human hardship and suffering. My goal is to assist you in your journey by providing a safe environment in which to grow and heal. In both my personal and professional life, I continue to be amazed by how we adapt and persevere through life’s challenges and difficulties. I believe we are not meant to go through this journey alone, and in our difficult times it is important to find extra support. It is my hope, as a counsellor, to encourage you in this journey and provide you with some extra tools for the road ahead.
My history includes 20 years of working in non-profit settings with vulnerable children, youth, and adults of various backgrounds. This experience started in the downtown east side of Vancouver working with high-risk youth and has expanded throughout the lower mainland where my focus has predominantly been in individual trauma. Over the years people have taught me that change, although hard, opens the door to new possibilities and growth.
As a therapist, I take a person-centred approach to therapy and customize my approach to an individual’s needs. I am committed to providing a collaborative, non-judgmental, safe environment, as a way to explore new possibilities for growth. I bring a calming presence and genuine care into sessions, and have found that this provides an openness for deeper understanding, which aids in the healing process. Finally, it is my sincere hope that therapy will empower you to build the life you want to live.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and use other counselling theories and strategies, namely, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)., in my practice.
Areas of practice: Depression, Anxiety, Burnout, Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Disorders of Extreme Stress, Addiction, Grief/loss, Adults with Developmental Disabilities, Domestic Violence + Abuse
