JODI THIELMANN
Jodi is a skilled counsellor who is warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. She develops a strong alliance with her clients and believes that each individual is uniquely designed with just the right personality traits, strengths and inner resources to live a life full of meaning and purpose.
Jodi obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the Unites States International University (USIU) in Nairobi, Kenya, her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology (USIU) and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). It was her love of African language and culture that first brought Jodi to Nairobi, but it was her passion for interacting with its' beautiful people that kept her there for five and a half years. During her time in Nairobi, Jodi focused on counselling young women at the local prison, worked with at-risk youth, as well as taught High School courses at the International School of Kenya (ISK).
Jodi works with individuals, children, youth, couples and families. She has 5 years of counseling experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, identity formation, life adjustments, trauma, grief and loss, cross-cultural experience, esteem building, relationships and more.
Jodi is committed to helping you discover the inner resources you need to tackle any challenges you may be facing, and incorporate them into your larger story. She desires to give you the tools you need to hope, dream and achieve fulfilment in your life. She does this from a Client-Centered and Relational perspective, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and a Family systems approach.
Jodi is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained counsellor and is registered with the Crime Victim Assistance Program.
Jodi blends together, counseling modalities, therapeutic interventions and coaching to design a unique therapeutic approach for each individual client.
