AT ACC WE CARE ABOUT YOUR WELLBEING. WE ARE HERE TO HELP ANYONE THROUGH ANY LIFE STAGE OR ISSUE BIG OR SMALL. OUR THERAPISTS ARE TRAINED TO HELP INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE AFFECTED BY A VARIETY OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES.

	WHAT IS CLINICAL COUNSELLING?

Clinical Counselling is the process
by which a trained clinical counsellor helps you to build insight and
understanding into an area of emotional difficulty, it is the process by which
mental illness and emotional challenges are assessed and treated. Effective
clinical counselling promotes attitude and behavior changes geared towards
improving your overall functioning and general well-being.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM COUNSELLING?

Because counselling involves dealing with
emotional hardship there are benefits and risks to engaging in the counselling
process. Some risks include feelings of discomfort (i.e.
anxiety, sadness, frustration, etc.) In general however, a
client who actively participates in the counselling process often experiences
benefits which include improvement in relationships, increased
self-esteem. increased coping skills and improvement in overall
wellbeing.
WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AS A CLIENT?

For therapy to be successful it is important
that you personally commit to working towards goals agreed upon with your
therapist. This includes therapeutic exercises assigned in and outside the
office. You are also encouraged to work on assignments at home in order to
increase your chances of therapeutic success.
WHICH COUNSELLOR SHOULD I CHOOSE?

In order for the therapeutic process
to be effective you need to feel comfortable with the counsellor. All of our
therapists have a variety of experience and approaches
and are committed to one common goal, supporting you or your
loved one. The best fit for you is the counsellor that you feel you connect
with as you read about them, their approach, and their experience. If you are
still not sure, call one of us and speak to us directly.
HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION BE?

Your session will generally
be 50 minutes unless otherwise arranged by you and your counsellor.
